Overview

Aruba is one of the safest and most organized Caribbean islands. It is more expensive than Belize or Curaçao, but infrastructure is significantly easier.

It works well for:

  • A short, predictable beach vacation
  • A relaxed remote-work stay

Overall time: 5–7 days
Main focus: beaches, snorkeling, light exploration
Best season: December–August (outside peak hurricane belt)
Arrival airport: Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA)

No car is required, but renting one adds flexibility.


Where to Stay

Palm Beach (most convenient)

  • Best infrastructure
  • Resorts, restaurants, supermarkets
  • Walkable area
  • Easy access to tours
  • Calm water

Best if you do not want to rent a car.

Eagle Beach (quieter)

  • Wider beach, fewer crowds
  • Short taxi/bus ride to Palm Beach
  • Good balance of calm and access

Oranjestad (budget / local feel)

  • Closer to airport
  • Good for short stays
  • Fewer beach options directly in front

Day 1 – Arrival & Beach Area Orientation


Arrive at AUA airport.

Transport:
- Taxi (fixed rates, safe)
- Rental car (optional)
- Public bus runs between airport, Oranjestad, Palm Beach

Base:
- Palm Beach or Eagle Beach recommended

Afternoon:
- Beach walk
- Swim in calm Caribbean waters
- Sunset from Eagle Beach or Palm Beach

Day 2 – Snorkeling & Marine Life


Aruba has easy-access snorkeling.

Best spots:
- Boca Catalina (clear water, easy access)
- Malmok Beach
- Arashi Beach (good visibility)

How to visit:
- Taxi
- Public bus + short walk
- Rental car (most flexible)

Alternative:
- Half-day catamaran snorkeling cruise
- Shipwreck snorkeling

Water is generally calm and predictable.

Day 3 – Arikok National Park (Desert Landscape)


Aruba is not just beaches — much of the island is desert.

Arikok National Park:
- Cacti landscapes
- Natural Pool (Conchi)
- Coastal cliffs
- Hiking trails

Access:
- Rental car strongly recommended
- Guided 4x4 tour

Important:
- Roads are rough in some areas
- Bring water and sun protection

This is the most different and scenic day on the island.

Day 4 – Oranjestad & Cultural Stops


Explore the capital Oranjestad.

What to see:
- Dutch Caribbean architecture
- Fort Zoutman
- Local markets
- Street art

Optional:
- Aloe factory tour
- California Lighthouse (panoramic views)

Easy to reach by:
- Bus
- Taxi
- Rental car

Day 5 – Relax / Alternative Beaches


Explore other beaches depending on mood:

- Baby Beach – calm lagoon, good for swimming
- Rodgers Beach – quieter, fewer crowds
- Manchebo Beach – less developed, peaceful

This is a flexible buffer day.


Transportation

Without car:

  • Palm Beach area is walkable
  • Public buses connect main zones
  • Taxis are safe and regulated

With car:

  • Easier access to Arikok
  • More flexibility for remote beaches

Driving is easy and roads are good.


Safety Notes

Aruba is considered one of the safest islands in the Caribbean.

  • Very low violent crime in tourist areas
  • Safe to walk in Palm Beach and Eagle Beach
  • Normal precautions apply

Costs

Aruba is not cheap.

  • Accommodation prices are high
  • Restaurants are US-level pricing
  • Tours cost more than in Belize
